This week was shortened but there was a lot of progress done on the Word Clock. We had to take off the letter blocks we previously put on it because Mr. Christy recommended us to use wood filler and finisher. We retrieved the wood filler by Carpentry on Wednesday and used it to fill in the chipped off wood. It worked out really well and after we sanded and wiped the dust away it looked natural. We returned it back to the shop after we were officially finished.
Thursday was the time to finish up sanding and prepare to use finisher. We decided on a glossy finish instead of satin. After sanding, we used the air gun to blow all of the dust off of the frame so then we'd be able to start brushing on the finisher. We prepared the area with cardboard underneath and our materials. The first layer looked incredible already. I'm not sure how many layers we plan on doing but perhaps three would be okay.
