This week, Mr. Christy asked Jaspreet, Bella, and I to fill out a map with decorations. He gave us a list of what should be shown on the map. The list of cities and states is what will be shown in labels. The purpose of the map is to display a path from Medford to Syracuse. The three of us decided to color code the states because Mr. Christy asked if we could highlight the borders because it was a thin light purple color.
States
Massachusetts
Vermont
New Hampshire
New York
Cities
Medford, MA
Worcester, MA
Pittsfield, MA
Northampton, MA
Marlborough, MA
Quabbin Reservoir, MA
East Green Bush, NY
Amsterdam, NY
Albany, NY
Schenectady, NY
Syracuse, NY
Utica, NY
We color-coded the states to mark each border. These borders will help viewers know each state's territory. We then taped each city to its corresponding location and then we thought of ways how to label each state. We settled for signs that read "[State] welcomes you" and what the state is addressed by. We worked wit the sharpies until I brought my personal markers in for more colors. The state labels turned out very well and it truly symbolizes each state in its special way.

After we finished up the state signs, we started to work on city labels. These were a little challenging because we couldn't make huge ones and didn't want them to cover the blue path. We decided on a design and also decided to draw a little symbol of what each city is known for. Ex: Albany is best known for their railroads. This allows each city to stand out on the map. To make the map more fully decorated, Mr. Christy suggested that we add special symbols that matched either a city or state or just silly things. I decided to draw the state flowers.
